One of the fun things about owning a Wrightsville Beach home is the colorful local history. The town has long been a favorite spot for beach lovers and vacationers from North Carolina and beyond. While the lovely beaches have remained a constant, many other landmarks have changed through the years. For anyone who has wondered about the history of swimsuits, surfing, and what life was like through the decades, plan a visit to the Wrightsville Beach Museum of History. The museum houses a great collection of memorabilia, including photographs, picture postcards, vintage surfboards, and much more. The Wrightsville Beach real estate location is designed to show how life was lived in a 1940s beach cottage. There’s a bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, and porch. Each room is fully furnished with authentic pieces, including a clawfoot tub in the bathroom!

Wrightsville Beach home owners, as well as visitors are invited to come during regular open hours. These are Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday from noon to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. The museum is closed on Mondays. Admission is free, and donations are always welcomed. Reservations for groups and school tours can be made in advance.

Come for Museum Events on Wrightsville Beach Real Estate

The museum is open year-round. There are also fun annual events. The Jingle Bell Run and Walk, now in its 10th year, will be held on Saturday, December 8th. Grab your friends and family, dress up as Santa or an elf or other holiday character, and get ready for the “most fun run” in town. Prizes will be awarded for the fastest runners in several age groups, as well as for the best costumes, including best decorated stroller and best pet costume. The cost for participating is $34 for those 13 and older and $20 for those 12 and younger. All funds raised for the run benefit the museum’s ongoing preservation work.
