One of the great things about owning Harbor Point real estate is that you’re so close to the ocean and Surf City Pier. The pier originally opened in 1948 and was completely rebuilt after Hurricane Fran destroyed it in 1996. The grand opening of the new pier was in August of 1997, and it included some great additions. People living in Harbor Point homes can come for fishing. The pier is well-lit, so night fishermen can get their catch in easily. There are also two fish cleaning stations with running water. If you forget something or need to stock up on gear, head to the fully stocked bait and tackle shop.

Visitors can enjoy the SCP Grill & Ice Cream, too. Order a hearty breakfast all day long. Or go for one of the freshly grilled hamburgers or hot dogs with french fries. There’s also great barbecue. Since the ocean is right next door, the seafood is always fresh and delicious. Try a combination of shrimp, flounder, or oysters, served with fries, coleslaw, and hush puppies. There are also scrumptious po’ boy sandwiches, with fish, shrimp or oysters and served with fries.
The ice cream is a favorite of Harbor Point real estate owners. Try a plain vanilla soft serve in a cake or waffle cone or add some candy. For a sweet indulgence, go for one of the Nor’easter, which includes chocolate sauce, candies, and nuts. You can choose from several combinations off the menu or make up your own.
The pier is open from mid-March through December 1st, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. All visitors will need either a pass or a ticket. Season passes go on sale in September. Fishing passes for one person start at $200, while spectator passes start at $30.
Visit Surf City Pier to learn more about the different pass options, find a full menu for the grill and ice cream, and find a schedule of events.
